Watch full electric Porsche Taycan Performance and Powertrain

8:31 AM 0

The German company officially entered the electomobility world recently, presenting its purely electric perfomance car, the Taycan. Porsche wants to show from the beginning that it has not just come to build yet another electric car but to lead the electric car technology. In the video below you can see some of Taycan's key technological features, such as the Powertain, how puts the power on the road as well as the innovative battery charging system.

Description from YouTube channel DPCcars
The Taycan shares a basic platform with the 2020 Audi e-tron GT; however, each will maintain distinct personalities. Both utilize an 800-volt electrical system that will provide state-of-the-art fast-charging capability. Although the EPA hasn't issued the Porsche's official estimated driving range, we'd put that number between 260 and 270 miles for the Turbo and between 225 and 250 miles for the Turbo S. Likewise, the former model makes 670 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque and the latter develops 750 ponies and 774 lb-ft. All of that technology is put to the pavement via front- and rear-mounted electric motors, and Porsche could potentially offer a rear-drive model down the road. The company estimates the Taycan will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds and says it will be able to do 10 launch-control starts in a row without any degradation in performance.

Porsche Taycan made the first trip to New York

10:48 AM 0

Porsche presented the Taycan with three parallel events in Germany, China and Canada, with the point chosen for the American country to be Niagara Falls. Usually after such events the cars enter a parking lot, but the Taycan we saw in Canada had to make a trip.

Specifically, it started from the waterfalls and arrived in New York, covering a distance of 656 km.
During the trip the German model had to stop only once, in the city of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. At that time the trip computer showed that it was covered a distance of 405 km. And the remaining energy in the batteries was sufficient for another 62 km.

At the stop, the car was connected to the charger for 24 minutes, during which the charging level went from 14% to 85%, which was more than enough to cover the remaining 254 km all the way to New York.

Porsche Taycan officially unveiled

1:29 AM 0

The first pure Porsche electric car was officially unveiled. Design and structurally, the big Trump of Porsche's 4th-door sporty model, which is based on a "niche" electric platform, is the low center of gravity and its ideal distribution (49/51 front/rear). But, above all, its aerodynamic performance, with the drag coefficient starting-depending on the version-the impressive price of 0.22.

The point of reference in the cabin is the... screens, which total reach number four. In front of the driver's field of vision there is the digital 16.8-inch instrument panel, which is distinguished by its convex and sufficiently minimalist design of its upper part. The new Taycan Guide has the ability to choose from four different illustrations of the latter.

In Classic, the traditional Porsche models are displayed, with the ever centrally positioned tachometer having given way to an "electric power meter". In Map mode, the last one is replaced by the map display, while in Full Map Mode the satellite navigation system signals occupy the entire available screen width. Finally, in Pure Mode the driver can see the indications necessary for the circumstances, such as for example speedometer.

On the right of the instrument panel there is still one screen, with a diagonal of 10.9 inches, through which the driver can control the functions of the navigation system, the music, and all connectivity parameters. The last 8.4-inch diameter display is located on the center console. It is worth noting that, despite the "dominance" of digital displays, the interior of the new Taycan is adorned by a centrally positioned analog clock.

The new Porsche Taycan will be available in Turbo and Turbo S versions powered by two electric motors-in cooperation with a two-step gearbox located on the rear axle-which attach to the top version of the model with maximum power 761 hp and torque of 1,005 Nm in overboost mode and in combination with Launch Control.

These numbers ensure the Turbo S acceleration from a stop to the first 100 and 200 km/h at 2.8 and 9.8 sec, respectively, as well as a top speed of 260 km/h. In normal conditions, the maximum power in the Turbo S does not exceed 625 horsepower. Finally, in the Turbo version, the maximum power reaches 680 horsepower (Overboost mode not foreseen), with the acceleration from stop to the first 100 km/h to be completed here at 3.2 sec.

It is supplied in all cases with a lithium-ion battery with a storage capacity of 93.4 kWh, which ensures according to the protocol WLTP autonomy up to 450 km. With a charge to the Turbo S and up to 412 km. In Turbo. In this way, Taycan is equipped with a charging system at 800 V, which allows it to be charged on a network of up to 270 kW.

In this case, the car battery can be filled with energy that is capable of offering 100 km of autonomy in just 5 minutes time. On the same network, for charging up to 80% of the maximum battery dynamics are required, according to Porsche, only 22 minutes. Porsche starts accepting orders for Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo in Germany, with an initial price of 185,456 euros and 152,136 euros respectively.

Watch 2020 Porsche Taycan Debut on September 4 Livestrteam

7:25 AM 0

After Porsche Taycan turned almost all over the globe, the big moment is approaching where the German company will present the first purely electric car in its history. The official presentation will be on the 4th of September 2019 and you will be able to watch it live from the online video portal of Porsche.

The new Taycan will be equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity close to 90 kWh, which can be charged on a network up to 800 V. Its final speed will reach 250 km/h, while the standard "0-100" will be completed in a time of under 3.5 sec.  The two electric motors on the front and rear axle will yield maximum power of 600 hp. They will have a rotor with permanent magnets that produce a natural, as it is called, magnetic field.

Another special feature of the new Taycan's electric motors is the coils of the stator magnets, consisting of rectangular and not round wires, which gives the possibility of "integrating" more copper into the stator and better cooling of this.
