The entry level Perodua Myvi 1.3 has a new moniker – the Myvi XT. This model replaces the current entry level Myvi and gets more equipment for the sale price as before – 1.3XT Manual – RM41,936 solid & RM42,436 metallic and 1.3XT Automatic – RM44,936 solid & RM45,436 metallic. There is a new grille and instead of plastic hubcaps you get alloy wheels with a design that was used in the face-lifted 1st generation Perodua Myvi. So no more caps flying all over the place during hard cornering and basically more value for Malaysia's favourite supermini.
You get new seat fabric design and now, even the entry level Myvi gets the Bluetooth equipped audio head unit. There is also some new plastic trimming around the instrument panel, center console, audio system and on the doors too. Everything else remains the same. In other words, the same engine and the same two airbags but no ABS feature.
Lime Green is introduced and Dazzling Red (pictured below but looking redder than it should be) a colour which was used on the limited run facelifted 1stgeneration Myvi Limited Edition is brought back. There are also silver, white and dark purple colours to choose from too.
Anyway, this has made me a happy man. My wife's Myvi is the previous generation Myvi Limited Edition stated above (and pictured below). This Myvi has two airbags like this current model (most previous generation Myvi base variants do not have airbags), Bluetooth connectivity, the Dazzling Red (I.e pink) and the 5 spoke wheels of this model. It looks like aside from the very slightly modern styling of the new car, my wife's Myvi has most of the equipment and now the looks of something current. Especially the colour and the wheels.
Is this progress? I suppose so as the Myvi we bought costs RM46,700. The new one is entry level and cheaper. As for Yours Truly, knowing that a car you have is not as outdated as it seems is a very, very good thing.
