According to Volvo, the pure electric XC40 will be "one of the safest cars ever manufactured". As you can imagine, it will follow the market trend with an electric motor on each axle and the battery on the car floor while it will continue to be based on the brand's CMA (Compact Modular Architecture).
The front part of the chassis has been redesigned given the lack of an internal combustion engine. In addition, Volvo has evolved a distinct structure, an aluminum cage if you prefer, which surrounds the battery and integrates into the chassis while the rear is also reinforced with the integration of the electric drive set.
The electric XC40 will be the first model to be equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance System sensor platform designed to extend the capabilities of autonomous car driving in the future. The only thing left as a "pending " from Volvo, is the announcement of technical characteristics, where we probably will not have to wait long.
