Google recently announced its intention to invest more than $2 billion in new renewable energy infrastructure in the US, South America and Europe. According to the announcement of the technological colossus, the new investment package includes 18 agreements for the installation of wind and solar power plants of 1,600 megawatts and is to increase the company's portfolio in RES to 40%.
This is the biggest investment in renewable energy in history. In a statement by Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, he said sustainability is one of Google's values and in recent years the goal is to reduce the environmental footprint of its operations.
Also, Google is expected to more than double its solar energy portfolio through new investments in solar parks in Texas and Carolina while in Chile the company plans to develop a solar and wind power plant.
