Ireland has managed record 44% share of RES in 12 months

Ireland's new high rates in the proportion of green energy to the total energy consumption were recorded, with the latest figures showing that in Northern Ireland 44% of total electricity consumption in the last 12 months until last June it was covered by renewable energy sources.

Indeed, such levels of production and coverage of consumption constitute a historic high for the country. In particular, according to the data communicated by the economy department last Thursday, they show an increase of 7.4 percentage points units to the share of RES from year to year, during the period July 2017 to June 2018. The renewable output reached 3.426 GWh and the total energy consumption of 7.788 GWh.

The wind contributed 85.3% to the production of the last 12 months to June 2019, compared with 83.9% in the previous period. The share of solar panels was 3.2%, a share of 3.6% maintained by biomass units.
