Mercedes prepares to enter the era of electrification with new and important purely electric models to be presented in the years to follow. Recently the head of development of Daimler, Markus Schaefer, said that at present the company has no plans to develop a next generation internal combustion engine, but will focus on the technology of electric motors.

Also, Schaefer said that although they will not invest in the development of new internal combustion engines, the German group will evolve in some peripheral parts of the engines in order to improve the existing engines of its range.
