The specific cooperation agreement of Nissan with EDF Group focuses mainly on the development of Smart charging (V2G) solutions combining the technologies developed and guaranteed by the two companies. Smart charging is for technologies that optimize the charging or discharging of an electrically powered vehicle, in an efficient and cost-effective way.
As part of the cooperation agreement, Nissan is responsible for the sale of electrically powered vehicles compatible with V2G and EDF Group is responsible for V2G charging solutions and related services. V2G technology will offer significant benefits to electricity networks, but also new, economic, business opportunities as more and more drivers and businesses make the transition to pure electric vehicles.
EDF Group is committed to promoting clean mobility for all, in particular by developing smart-charging solutions with tangible benefits for consumers. These integrated solutions include charging and battery discharge management, as well as flexible power supply services available through energy storage.
Francisco Carranza, CEO of Nissan Energy in Europe said: "This new co-operation with EDF in four major European markets is another sign that our vision of an electric ecosystem is becoming a reality". This agreement will be implemented in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Italy.
