New Alpine models will have plug-in hybrid technology

11:53 AM 0

The future models of Alpine will adopt the electromobility, as the brand "can not escape" from the advancement of technology, according to Oliver Murguet, EVP of sales and regions of Groupe Renault.  Speaking at the British Auto Express, Murguet admitted that despite the focus of Alpine on light, back-mobile sports cars, he should apply the electromobility to the next generation of its models.

While Murguet did not give a timetable for the introduction of electrification, nor in what form, it is clear that Alpine intends to significantly develop its product portfolio in the future. So far, Alpine has only one model: A110. The electrification application (battery) will lend weight, but any such car will compensate for the extra load with improved power and torque.

However, Murguet did not seem to be particularly troubled, adding: "Look at Ferrari, even the last Ferrari is [hybrid] electric." Despite the A110 weighing only 1,103 kilos, Murguet suggested that stripping a car does not necessarily coincide with the brand's elements. "Alpine's customers ask for more sporty items, but more comfort," he said.

Lamborghini Sián is a hybrid supercar with 808hp

8:14 AM 0

Lamborghini is entering deeper into the world of electrification with the impressive hybrid supercar Lamborghini Sián, which was unveiled for the first time at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. It is based on the same platform as the Aventador and has the same 6 litre V12 engine with natural suction that uses the older model of the automobile industry.

The Lamborghini Sián combines the V12 with an 48-volt 34HP electric motor built into the gearbox, which offers better responsiveness and performance. Instead of following the easy road and using the 48-volt mild-hybrid VW Group, the Lamborghini decided not to use a simple lithium-ion battery pack. In fact it developed a supercapacitor that is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight and the system is three times lighter.

The electric motor of the hybrid supercar together with the supercapacitor weighs 34 kg and as already mentioned add to the power 34hp. So, despite its slight weight, this system offers a respectable extra power. Lamborghini Sián has a total of 808hp and the company reports that the supercar hybrid will have a 0-100 acceleration in 2.8 seconds and its final speed will exceed 350 km/h.

New Renault Megane Facelift will have plug-in hybrid version

1:51 AM 0

Renault continues testing the compact version of Megane where it prepares for the second half of its commercial life with a light facelift that will focus more on new technical characteristics than the improvements designed in the design Piece.

The French brand will present the facelift Megane in the spring of 2020 and as imposed by the era of Electromobility will have a version that will be plug-in Hybrid with the technology "e-Tech" that combines an atmospheric petrol engine of 1.6 liters and Electric motor with a total of 130 horsepower.

The e-Tech system is a hybrid technology that promotes the use of the electric motor in relation to the thermal. It always starts with the electric motor, with the petrol engine then mobilized, pretty much depending on the battery charging state. There are three motors, the thermal, the main electric and the second supporting electric.

Plug-in hybrid VW Passat GTE has more range

11:39 AM 0

The plug-in hybrid Volkswagen Passat GTE offers more autonomy with the use of electric power, thanks to the increased 31% battery power in 13 kWh (from 9.9 kWh). The autonomy with the NEDC cycle is 70 km. (from 50 km), while the most realistic WLTP cycle reaches 56 km.

For longer distances and speeds of more than 140 km/h, the powerful electric motor supports the TSI engine, especially with the GTE mode option and provides extra power. The plug-in hybrid set of the Passat GTE consists of a TSI 1.4 lτ. Power 156 HP and an 115 hp electric motor.

The combined power of 218 HP and 400 Nm of torque is transported to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The gross consumption is 1.5 lit./100 km. And CO2 emissions are 34 g/km, while 0-100 km/h are achieved in 7.4 sec. And the top speed reaches 225 km/h.

Charging the Passat GTE requires 6 hours and 15 minutes to reach from 0 to 100% of the battery. The 3.6 kW Charger wants this time to fill the battery when it draws power from the classic, home network of 230 Volts. If connected to a 360 Volts, the charging time drops to 4 hours.

Dacia Duster SUV will soon have a hybrid version?

8:25 AM 0

One of the vehicles that could surely be hybridization directly would be the Dacia Duster, which seems to be pursued, at least according to the statements of Olivier Murguet, head of the Renault Trade Department "It is hard to imagine That the Dacia will remain on the sidelines of electrification. "

The problem is what kind of hybrid technology could be introduced into the Dacia Duster? The electrification in the Renault group is becoming increasingly popular and with the new Clio 5 and Captur 2 has been strengthened. It could be these vehicles that will "lend" the hybrid technology to the low-cost SUV with a full hybrid or with a plug-in version. But could the Duster platform host it?

Because electrification has its price and Dacia Duster is a low price champion, it could see an increase in production costs and a consequent increase in price. Not so good news in the low-cost philosophy that always accompanies Dacia. Philosophy which, according to the data published by Automotive News, led the Dacia to have a functional margin of more than 10%, even exceeding Premium brands such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

At the moment, no one in the Renault group has commented, but with 2020 getting closer, the future steps of Dacia will become more and more clear. Perhaps the test prototype we had presented a few months ago was the beginning of the Romanian brand's transition to the world of electrification.
