The service in electric cars costs up to 50% less

6:12 AM 0

An important advantage is that electric motors are compared to internal combustion engines in terms of their maintenance. This is another major step in the effort to conquer an even larger share in the car market. In particular, according to a VW survey, maintenance costs are at least 30% smaller.

This is because a purely electric car only wants maintenance on the mounts, the braking system and the tyres, since the engine has just one moving part, the rotor. Thus, the costs for changing lubricants, spark plugs, for damage to turbochargers and many other moving parts, do not exist in electric cars.

Even electric cars have systems for recovering their kinetic energy, which is much less the conventional braking system. All this combined with the much lower cost of electricity, can reduce the cost of maintaining a car with an electric motor even at 50% of the cost of a conventional car.

This reduction reflects on the automakers and especially in the car repair industry where they know very well that in the near future they will have reduced revenues from reduced repair hours and the use of less spare parts.

This VW Golf 7 R REVO punished the Tesla Model 3

9:09 AM 0

The top version of Tesla Model 3, comes with two electric motors, 487 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque.  On the contrary, the VW Golf R delivers 300 horsepower at 5.500-6.500 rpm and 380 Nm at 2,000-5.400 rpm of course it's a four-wheel drive and this particular Golf R doesn't have any crazy conversions. Only a first stage of Revo, which sends power to the 400 HP. In theory, he doesn't have the slightest chance.

However, while Model 3 passes to the start, the German hot hatch picks up the difference and passes the 400 to 11.768 L., versus 12.251 of the American ηλεκτρικού sedan. Impressive! What do you think?

VW CEO Herbert Diess recognizes pioneering role of Tesla

7:00 AM 0

A short time ago, the rumor of VW's CEO, Herbert Diess, was released, stating that a company in which heads is thinking of investing in Tesla, the pioneer company in the field of electrification. Shortly thereafter, VW representatives denied this information by explicitly clarifying that the VW Group's parent company "does not intend to make such an investment".

Herbert Diess told representatives of the international press: "No, I do not think we should buy a share in Tesla. I think what they're doing, we can do. I really admire what he has done, which helps us as well as pushing us towards Electromobility. Their cars are nice and I like to drive them"

In fact, the powerful man of VW acknowledged the leading role of the company of Elon Musk. However, Diess expressed his conviction that in the long term VW and the VW Group as a whole will be able to compete with Tesla. And read why:
"In the long run, I think we can have a little advantage thanks to the size difference. As far as the hardware is concerned, there is no chance of such a difference, as Tesla has its own electric platform and is now large enough as a manufacturer of electric vehicles. But when we refer to the next important element, which is the software, the Tesla is very powerful-but the software is a matter of volume. If it manufactures software, then you have to use it in ten million cars, not one.  "

Volkswagen ID.4 EV SUV coming to US in 2020

12:07 PM 0

At this year's Frankfurt motor Show, electric vehicles are more stubborn than ever, with Volkswagen being part of that trend. The German giant recently presented the impressive ID. 3, while a few hours later showed a camouflaged prototype SUV on the stand.

The specific model is based on the ID.Crozz Concept, which was presented by the German firm in the Frankfurt Show in 2017, with the only differentiation to refer to its name and ID. 4 being its winning name. So Volkswagen ID. 4 will also be based on the MEB platform, while at the same time it is the second of the five purely electric models, which the German company is expected to launch in the near future.

VW made it known that the E-Golf, which was first introduced in 2014 and renewed in 2017, will continue until further notice to be available on local markets, despite the imminent in 2020 commercial presence of the new ID. 3

Official : 2020 Volkswagen ID.3

11:04 AM 0

The most important model of Volkswagen after the Golf and the Beetle was presented by the German company. This is the purely electric ID.3 as presented in the Frankfurt Motor Show and worth a look as it is the latest "hot" addition to the larger category of affordable EV.

It is the first model based on the VW Group's MEB platform and the first benefits are visible directly. The ID.3 is just 3mm longer in length, 10mm in width and 60 mm in height from the current Golf but the wheelbase of 2,765 mm, is compared more with that of Passat and "loses" with a difference of 21 millimeters.

The proportions are due to the transition to electromobility and more specifically, to the batteries and the fact that the drive shaft is the rear that allowed the designers to stay very close to the prototype. There is the lowering of the center of gravity and the optimum distribution of the masses that give the ID.3 "Predictable handling" and "exceptional performance" despite the weight of 1,700 + kg.

ID.3 will be available in 3 versions: one with the battery of 45 kWh offering autonomy of 330 km and 150 horses and two with 204 horsepower and the battery of either 58 kWh with up to 420 km of autonomy, either of 77 kWh and up to 550 km of autonomy , all however, with 310 Nm of torque.

The first, "basic" version is not expected to cost less than €30,000! These versions are also differentiated in terms of charging the batteries, with the medium version offering a capacity of 100 kW, thanks to which it charges the battery for 250 km in just 30 minutes.

The entry-level version provides charging capacity of 50 kW (optional 100 kW) while the top one, charges at 125 kW while Volkswagen guarantees optimum battery function for 8 years or 160,000 km. Performance did not announce the brand but confirmed that the final speed of the new model regardless of version is electronically limited to 160 km/h.

Inside we see that the instrument panel is hosted on a 10 inch screen and one large at the top of the dashboard for the entertainment and information system. All conventional buttons and controls except for electric windows and hazard have been replaced with touch.

According to the company, ID. 3 sets new standards in the compact category in terms of spaciousness. Worthy of reference is both the fact that the ID. 3 will receive "over-the-air" updates i.e. wirelessly or "Internet". Ιts first deliveries to European markets will take place at the beginning of 2020.
