Tesla Model S vs Mercedes-AMG GT Drag Race

7:30 AM 0

The Tesla Model S is up to now the ultimate benchmark in a Drag Race in electric vehicles, since it offers explosive acceleration from stasis and even with the ability to keep performance at very good levels. In the video that follows from YouTube channel Lovecars, you can see a Drag Race where the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC 4-Door Coupé will find opposite Tesla Model S P100D. The German Sedan has an acceleration of 0-100km/h at 3.2 sec while the Model S for 0-96km/h needs only 2.4 sec.
Which of the two do you think will prevail?

Description from YouTube channel Lovecars :
It’s fantastic to see so many supportive comments for our videos but, with the quality we like to produce, they are extremely expensive to make so it would be great if you could head to Patreon to see what we can offer you, in return for you helping us make a lot more!
Paul and Tiff get together for another Drag Race with the Tesla Model S and the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ 4-Door Coupé. The results are not completely what you would expect, or are they?

4:04 AM 0

Tesla Model S maintains high resale value

12:44 PM 0

According to a study conducted by iSeeCars, the S model of Tesla retains its value 2 times more than a conventional or an electric car. According to this study, the average depreciation rate for electric vehicles is 56.6% versus 38.2% for an average car using petrol.

Also earlier studies have shown that in general, electric cars are underestimated more quickly than common petrol-powered vehicles. However, we must bear in mind that electric cars are being underestimated more quickly because resale prices are calculated as well as the state and local credits applied to these vehicles when purchased for the first time.

Ly suggests that obsolescence may also play a role in the high depreciation rate of electric vehicles:
"Because electric vehicle technology is changing rapidly, obsolescence also plays a role in their dramatic devaluation as well as consumer stress and the lack of public infrastructure to charge them."

However, things would have been different if electric cars did not have the extra credit and if petrol-powered cars were sold at their real cost, since their impact on health and the environment had been included in their price.

Either way, it is very likely soon the devaluation of gasoline cars to increase compared to electric vehicles. In a few years no one will want to buy petrol-powered vehicles and they will know that no one is going to want to buy their used petrol car in 3-5 years destroying its resale value.

Watch New Tesla Model S on testing to Nürburgring : Video

9:16 AM 0

The Tesla these days has brought a fairly modified Model S prototype to the famous Nürburgring track and the ultimate goal is to take down the lap record that Porsche Taycan managed a few days ago. In the video below from YouTube channel Automotive Mike, you can see the Tesla Model S in action.

Description from YouTube channel Automotive Mike :
During the Industry Pool at the Nürburgring I have filmed the Tesla Model S doing some laps on track. (To bad only twice..)
Elon Musk has just shed more light into the aggressive Model S that was spotted yesterday near the famous German track. Apparently, it’s a ‘chassis prototype’ fitted with their new ‘Plaid’ powertrain, which will sit above the existing 100D with the Ludicrous mode in the model’s range.

Tesla’s CEO also said that the red car with the wide arches is fitted with seven seats, adding that they are gunning for the fastest seven-seat car record.
This could be Tesla indirectly admitting that they can’t beat the Porsche Taycan outright on the Nurburgring, where the latter holds the title of the “fastest four-door electric sports car”, according to Porsche.
A similar prototype managed to break the record for the fastest four-door sedan around Laguna Seca, beating the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 by nearly a second with a 1:36.555 lap. However, the company doesn’t claim that record, as track officials were not present during Tesla’s test.
The new ‘Plaid’ powertrain features three electric motors, instead of the two in the P100D “Ludicrous”. Musk opted for these names for Tesla’s powertrains as a reference to Mel Brooks’ classic Spaceballs movie.
More details about this new powertrain will be announced soon, with the company saying that they will offer it in the Model S, Model X, as well as the new Roadster, but not in the Model 3 or Model Y. Musk also said that the final production examples of the Plaid-powered Teslas are still a year away from launch.
As for the Model S ‘chassis prototype’, our spy shots show that it’s been fitted with larger wheels, stickier tires and the necessary wider fenders to cover them, as well as a new lip spoiler for the tailgate. Upgraded brakes and new suspension settings are also present, while our spies, who spotted the car again today doing its first laps, told us that the car was fitted with a roll cage as well (obviously, for safety reasons).
Yesterday’s report said that Tesla might attempt its Nurburgring lap record on September 21, while Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport confirms the same date and adds that the EV maker has booked a second slot on September 25.

Watch Tesla Model S Laguna Seca record with new “Plaid” technology

1:05 AM 0

Yesterday Elon Musk wrote about the lap record achieved by Tesla Model S in Laguna Seca. Today Tesla published the video that shows from inside how the Model S Plaid? managed to record the fastest time for a four-door car. In fact, this Model S was wearing an advanced technological system called  "Plaid powertrain".  But what is this?

According to subsequent tweets by Elon Musk, it is a new function that does not use one, not two, but three electric motors. Plaid Powertrain is expected to be placed in the immediate future in Model X, Model S and Roadster 2, but not in Model 3 and Model Y.

This new technology should be the reason behind the announcement Musk to get the Model S in the infamous 20.8 km Nürburgring Nordschleife route in Germany this week. Apparently the Tesla is preparing a special edition of the Tesla Model S and of course the customers will have to pay something more to get it, and I think the Tesla needs as never this special edition.
