2:30 AM 0

The brand new prototype electric model with the name e-TPV will be offered in one version as pure electric, while its other version will also combine battery which will work with a rotary engine, which will function as a range extender, charging the battery whenever it is needed.

The photographs of the original model that came to the public, show the body of the CX-30, with the brand representative, Yoshikazu Nagai, to mention that several electrical prototypes will be presented in the big exhibition, which will feature the "costume" of the CX-30, but will be stepping on the new Mazda platform that has evolved exclusively for electric cars.

Mr. Nagai confirmed that the car will be a "brand new model" and not just an electrically powered CX-30, without of course revealing what will be true with the exterior design of the car. What has become known about the purely electric version of the new Mazda model is that for its movement it will take care of an electric motor with a power of 141 horsepower, with a battery array of 35.5 kWh capacity.

The new electric model is expected to start his career in the markets of Japan, China and of course Europe and the US markets will follow. The new electric model, will be the springboard for the new series of electric cars of the Japanese brand.

Hyundai 45 Concept : Seeing in the future with a glimpse into the past

2:03 AM 0

Hyundai in the Frankfurt Motor Show revealed to the public the "45 Concept". A purely electric prototype with retro influences that works in parallel and as a tribute to the brand's past. The 45 Concept uses as inspiration for the design of Hyundai's first mass production car – the legendary Pony and was even named so because it has been 45 years since its presentation.

The "45" in the name of the original, also refers to the 45 degree angles formed on the front and the back creating "a diamond-shaped silhouette that additionally prestates for the design direction of future electric models". The 45 Concept is also a vehicle for developments in technology and how they may be passed on to production.

"Camera Monitoring System " Calls the Korean brand the technology that replaces conventional camera mirrors and on the other hand, the Hyundai "Style Set Free" strategy for the cabin, which focuses on the personalization of both design and of operations. The inspiration for interior design comes from household furniture, the application of minimalism and the use of various materials with alternations.

Clean lines, large surfaces, ergonomics and technology, "tethered" to the past for an impressive yet affordable result. Not in cash, since the 45 Concept is not intended for production, but aesthetically mainly.

CUPRA Tavascan Concept full-electric with 302 HP

7:39 AM 0

Tavascan Concept took its name from a village located in the Pyrenees, unique because of the stunning landscape surrounding it and the surrounding natural environment. CUPRA now connects its high-performance DNA with advanced engine technology and refined and expressive design. It is a fully electric SUV coupe, the first car that the CUPRA uses 100% electric motor, with zero emission.

The exterior design of the vehicle combines performance and efficiency, bringing dynamism to its class and zero environmental impacts. The front design emphasizes its electrical personality with the illuminated brand logo that is positioned low, providing a completely different focal point.

The rear diffuser provides functional aerodynamics which is reinforced by the sleek light that runs along the back of the body with a built-in logo. Tavascan Concept is combined with metallic color that enhances its external design line as well as carbon fibre and subtle copper details that emphasize its expressive expression.

Inside the vehicle we see a space that mixes materials and technological ideas and focuses on the creation of a cabin that offers a perfect balance between driver orientation and passenger comfort. In the interior of the model contrasting colors, dynamic technologies, design details and materials such as leather, carbon and Alcantara, creating a quality cabin.

The Tavascan Concept features two motors, one integrated in the front axle and the second on the rear axle, with a power of 302 horsepower and four-wheel drive providing maximum performance, giving it acceleration 0-100 to 6.5 ". The vehicle is equipped with a 77kWh lithium-ion battery, which can store enough energy to keep the vehicle in motion with autonomy up to 450 km, which is based on the WLTP.

It is built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform and because the battery is placed on the floor, its centre of gravity is low, giving the car intense sports skills. Tavascan Electric Concept will make its world debut at this year's IAA International Auto Salon in Frankfurt.

KL International Motor Show 2013 - The Concept Cars

7:55 AM 0
The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13) is underway with public viewing beginning today. One definition of a 'motor show' is that it is a public exhibition of concept cars, model debuts, a showcase of current models as well as one which features out of production models or classics. KLIMS13 is a motor show where there are concept cars and new model debuts. We may not be in the forefront of first debuts internationally, but KLIMS13 does showcase some concept cars. We have compiled all the concept vehicles (not current production models but futuristic ideas that manufacturers are toying with) that are displayed at KLIMS13 for your viewing pleasure.

Lets start with Perodua again. Note that only Perodua has come up with a totally original concept car that you will never find anywhere else in the world except at the KL Motor Show. Of course, sometimes we can see why. The 2013 BuddyZ is actually quite horrid. But let's give Perodua an 'A' for effort as without Perodua, there wouldn't be a totally new, totally original concept car (and totally engineered locally) for KLIMS13. You will see that the concept cars from the next manufacturers are from motor shows from a few years ago.

Next we have Toyota. Toyota has brought in two concept cars – the Toyota NS4 which is a next generation plug-in hybrid saloon concept which was first shown at the 2012 North American Motor Show and the Toyota Fun-Vii (below), first debuted at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The Toyota Fun-Vii is an information hub vehicle concept where people, cars and society interact. It has panels on both sides which can project photos of anything the driver programmes it to do. We've seen its panels in action at KLIMS13. The car is a moving light show and would bring a smile to the faces of people around it/ Provided the picture displayed isn't some horrifying scene from some horror movie.

Honda has decided to bring in the Honda EV-STER pictured right above. First debuted in 2011, this is an all-electric concept roadster that can reach 160km/h. It is steered by two joysticks for each hand. Very Playstation-like. Anyway, the EV-STER shows what a new version of the classic 1990s Honda Beat could look like. In fact, this car's exterior styling is also featured in Honda's latest concept car, the S660 which was shown at this year's Tokyo motor show. That car has a normal steering wheel and could be a sign that Honda wants to produce a new Honda Beat for a new generation of fans.

Hyundai has brought in its 2012 European concept car called the Hyundai i-oniq (HED-8). The concept is a coupe styled 4 passenger hatchback with Lamborghini-esque swing doors. It has an extended range electric vehicle that has a 1.0liter 3 cylinder petrol engine with an 80kw electric motor which allows it to have a range of 700km at a top speed of 145km/h producing only 45g/km of CO2.

Citroen has brought in the Citreon Numero 9 from 2012. This is a concept car with a Shooting Brake or wagon styled body that is extremely elegant in the flesh. It is a plug-in hybrid yet produces 295 combined horsepower as well as being able to run fully electric for at least 50km. Power, economy and style is combined. It also reminds us of Citroen from days gone by - low and elegant. Unlike these days where the current batch of DS cars seem round, luxurious, stylish but a little high off the ground. Citroen needs to incorporate the Numero 9's styling into its current crop of cars as soon as possible.

KLIM13 may not be the latest in concept cars (with the exception of Perodua). But the general public gets to have a glimpse at what automotive manufacturers are doing.

Bertone and Pininfarina Geneva concept cars aren't that fanciful

11:33 PM 0
The Pininfarina Cambiano - A idea for a 612  Scaglietti rejected by Ferrari?
The Bertone Nuccio - Not a very balanced looking car

Both Pininfarina and Bertone are two companies responsible for coming out with the design of classics like the Ferrari 365GTB Daytona and the Lamborghini Miura respectively as well as a plethora of supercars, family cars and unique, one of a kind cars for individual customers. These companies also brighten up car shows with the amazing concept cars. But this time I have to say that both have come up with duds this time around.

Peugeot EX1 - Yes, It Sets A New EV Speed Record...BUT.....

9:41 PM 0
"The Peugeot EX1 was piloted by Stephane Caillet and lapped the 20.8km Nordschleife in 9 minutes 1.338 seconds with an average speed of (yawn) 138.324km/h. Note that Peugeot have quoted until the 1/1000th of a decimal point for both lap time and average speed. I suppose when you're going this slow every 1/1000th of a second counts. "

Volvo Concept Universe - The First Concept Car Under Geely and It Looks Slightly Awkward But Nice

8:03 PM 0
"Those that are familiar with classic Volvo design would recognize the Volvo PV544-like bonnet, low set headlights and the shape of the grille. Its design team actually did spend some time looking at classic Volvos and I believe that it does look portray the essence of the earlier Volvos. The nose from the three quarter angle shows off the car pretty well. It may look awkward at first but it does make the car a little different than the norm."

Upcoming F10 BMW M5 - Restrained Aggression... How The Ultimate Driving Machine is Suppose To Be

8:42 PM 0
"The F10 BMW M5 is another car that I am looking forward to as it somehow brings back what I truly like about BMWs - discreet restrained aggression. Think E39 M5, E30 M3 and the E34 M5 as well as the earlier 3.0CSL coupes from the 1970s and you'll know what I am trying to say. "
