Shell Launches the Shell V-Power LEGO Collection - Now Available at Shell Stations throughout Malaysia

5:36 AM 0

#ReadySetBuild - Shell officially launched its new Shell V-Power LEGO Collection at Sunway Pyramid today. This is an exclusive range of small LEGO sets that are based around Ferrari and Shell respectively. The collection was created in collaboration with Ferrari and the LEGO group and introduces six new models - four iconic Ferrari cars (with a tiny pull-back motor in them), a Finish Line and Podium set which includes a LEGO minifigure (minifig), and a set of the Shell Station modelled after the one at Ferrari's Foriano Circuit - Ferrari's private racetrack in Maranello. The Shell Station set comes with a Shell Scientist minifig.

Tuan HJ Azman Ismail (pictured above, in the middle), Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd said that Shell are excited that through the Shell V-Power LEGO Collection, they can bring people together. He said that "Motorists, race fans, toy enthusiasts, children and adults alike (will) make Shell a happy pit stop for all. We believe that the simple act of building can be more meaningful and fun if shared with others. Our hope is for our customers to not simply build the Shell V-Power collection but form closer bonds in the process"

He further added that many Malaysians had played with LEGO bricks when they were young. " So why not relive the good old days with friends? With the school holidays fast approaching, perhaps parents can spend more time with their children by building Ferrari collectibles and LEGO playsets" he added.

So how do you go about getting these unique, LEGO sets? You need a minimum purchase of RM40 of Shell V-Power and Shell FuelSave fuel or purchase a 4litre pack of Shell Helix motor oil. Once that purchase is made, you will be able to purchase one of the six LEGO model sets which are priced at RM9.90 and RM13.90. It is RM9.90 if you pump RM40 worth of V-Power 97 or V-Power Racing or buy 4liters of Shell Helix HX5 or 4 liters of HX7. You will have to fork out RM13.90 for each LEGO set if you pump RM40 worth of Shell FuelSave 95 or Shell Diesel.

There is also a limited edition Shell Tanker for RM9.90 with every RM40 pump of Shell V-Power or if you purchase either 4liters of Shell Helix HX5 and HX7. You can however get the Shell Tanker free if you purchase the 4 liter pack of Shell Helix Ultra engine oil. The Shell Tanker should only be available after the 13th of November 2015.

Speaking about the LEGO model sets release dates the models were made available from the 1st of November 2015. The first Shell V-Power LEGO collectible sets have been released so far and new models will be released every Sunday - from the 1st of November 2015 to the 13th December 2015. It would be available at all Shell stations for purchase until 31st January 2016 or while stocks lasts.

Customers are also encouraged to share on Social Media (on INSTAGRAM) photos of their Shell V-Power LEGO models and their building moments (family bonding memories, friends building the sets. etc) by using the hashtag #ReadySetBuild and #my to the photos. There may be some interesting events coming on soon with regards to the photo sharing activities, so stay tuned folks.

Aside from the above, Shell is also inviting everyone to visit the Shell V-Power LEGO activity centres at Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya on the 5th to 8th November 2015 and at the Gurney Plaza, Penang on the 12th to 15th November 2015 where they will get a chance to view half sized (1:2 scale) LEGO brick based Ferrari models as well as the full sized, 1:1 scale Ferrari LEGO model car. The half sized cars are larger versions of the four Ferrari cars which you can buy - the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the Ferrari F138 F1 car, the Ferrari 250GTO and the Ferrari 512S. But I like the full sized LEGO model of the Ferrari F1 car. It uses LEGO bricks for the body and aero bits, with a replica of the carbon fiber driver's tub, real suspension parts sticking out of the LEGO shell. Pretty interesting. Since it took 214,950 LEGO bricks and about 810 days to build.

There will also be roving trucks that will bring the Shell V-Power LEGO experience to the public with the life sized LEGO model of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Car too. The Truck will display the car in the Klang Valley, Ipoh, Melaka and other seclected locations throughout Malaysia.

More information of the Shell V-Power LEGO collection as well as upcoming activities pertaining to this promotion could be found at www.shell.com.my/lego.

Shell officially introduces the latest and greatest Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30

6:49 AM 0

I was at the official launching of Shell's latest Helix Ultra motor oil yesterday. It was a fabulous event where distinguished guests included valued customers as well as members of the media. The Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2//C3 0W-30 is Shell Lubricant's latest and most advanced product in the Shell Helix With PurePlus Technology range. It is the highest grade that Shell has and offers up to four times better wear protection than the industry standard.

We were entertained with food and drink whilst being briefed on the virtues of Shell's latest and greatest engine oil. Some of the food was as cutting edge as the engine oil as it was quite a fusion of different flavours that confused the heck out of our palettes. Anyway, back to the engine oil at hand, Shell Lubricants General Manager for Malaysia and SIngapore, Mr Leslie Ng (above- the chap in the tuxedo holding the Helix Ultra pack) told us that the Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 is also our most advanced formulation to date.

How advanced you say? 45% cleaner pistons to protect and maximise the engine’s working life and it can deliver up to 2.6% greater fuel economy or 16 kilometres more per tank. A slippery oil that can protect yet not create unwanted drag is what this engine oil is.

The product meets ACEA C2, ACEA C3,(one a rating for the standards of fuel economy, the other for clean emissions) and API SN specifications. Manufacturer approvals include: VW504.00/507.00, MB 229.52, MB 229.51, MB 229.31 and Fiat 955535.GS1. Do note that these ratings represent the most demanding standards within the motoring industry. if the engine oil complies with the standards mentioned above, then it is indeed a product worthy to be used for even the most simplest engines. In simple terms, use any engine oil with that has the above specifications even for a 2014 Proton and you're giving it the best protection for the engine that your money can buy.

As with most fully synthetic oils these days, the Shell Helix Ultra 0W-30 is backward compatible. This basically means that you could use it if you car only requires simple API SL ratings, VW 501/502 or MB229.1. But as always, read your car's owner's manual. Inside it is usually a chart on the types of engine oil you can use, from the thinnest to the thickest one can use - tip- The larger the number at the end (eg. 20W50 means a thicker viscosity than 0W30 - usually in tropical countries like ours the front number is of no concern as it is more for cold weather capabilities).

The new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 is priced at RM338 for a 4-litre pack. It is actually aimed at the higher end of the car market where market forces (like the current financial quagmire Malaysia is facing) does not really affect those that would use the oil. It is also a fully imported product and is packed in the European Union.

Oh yes. I will be trying out the Shell Helix Ultra 0W-30 sometime within the next few months. It will go into the Perodua Myvi which recently benefited from an engine oil change at the recent Shell #lovemyride event. There it received the Helix Ultra 5W-40 with PurePlus Technology. It has been performing very well so far and when the oil change interval is up, the Helix Ultra 0W-30 will be used. For your information, the Myvi has been using fully synthetic 5W-40 for at least three previous oil changes. Prior to this the Myvi was on Perodua's w30 weight semi-synthetic engine oil. Now  it will go back to its original factory oil grade but with a more premium engine oil. I will write about it once the oil change is done.

SHELL INTRODUCES NEW HELIX ULTRA ECT C2/C3 0W-30,
ITS MOST ADVANCED MOTOR OIL YET
New flagship Shell Helix Ultra motor oil delivers better fuel economy,
cleaner pistons and tougher corrosion protection

Kuala Lumpur, 6 October 2015 – Shell Lubricants has launched the latest and most advanced product in its Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology range. The new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 offers superior performance and engine protection, achieving unsurpassed wear protection of four times better than the industry standard, setting a new record for Shell Helix.

The new flagship product from the Shell Helix range is formulated with patented Shell PurePlus Technology and features Emissions Compatible Technology (ECT), developed to help protect the emissions systems of the most modern diesel and gasoline engines. It also meets the technically-challenging industry specifications and approvals of top tier equipment manufacturers, including Mercedes and Volkswagen.

Speaking at the launch, Shell Lubricants General Manager – Malaysia and Singapore, Leslie Ng, said that the new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 has the highest specifications of all motor oils in the market.

“Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 is also our most advanced formulation to date. It is designed to deliver superior performance and protection, to help keep your engine performing at its best.  As with our Shell Helix Ultra products, this product is formulated using our revolutionary PurePlus Technology. The even and stable molecular structure of PurePlus Technology is a key part of the performance of Shell Helix Ultra motor oils, as it enables us to create motor oil that performs better than ever before. This means we can develop motor oils that exceed drivers’ demands for cleanliness and protection, as well as improved fuel economy,” he said.

Leslie pointed out that the new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 was designed with multi-fuel capability and extremely well-suited for the most advanced, low-emissions vehicles.  These vehicles are normally powered by diesel engines with particulate filters, high-performance gasoline engines or gas, bio-diesel and ethanol blend engines.  It is also backward compatible with many OEM and industry specifications.

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 formulation achieved superior results in industry standard tests, proving that no other motor oil cleans your engine better. Besides unsurpassed wear protectionof up to four times more, it delivered three times better corrosion protection  of engine components, helping to extend engine life.

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 also produced 45% cleaner pistons to protect and maximise the engine’s working life and delivered up to 2.6% greater fuel economy or 16 kilometres more per tank.
Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 is formulated from natural gas using Shell’s revolutionary PurePlus Technology. This revolutionary gas-to-liquids technology process converts natural gas into a crystal-clear base oil with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil.

Base oils make up on average 75-90% of the end product, so high-quality base stock with significantly more isoparaffins than others is a key component in top-tier engine oils. The base oil is then enhanced with Shell’s proprietary Active Cleansing Technology to create the company’s most advanced fully synthetic motor oil ever, which delivers higher levels of protection against build-up of engine deposits and unsurpassed sludge protection.

The product meets ACEA C2, ACEA C3, and API SN specifications. Manufacturer approvals include: VW504.00/507.00, MB 229.52, MB 229.51, MB 229.31 and Fiat 955535.GS1.

The new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 is priced at RM338 for a 4-litre pack.  For more information, kindly go to www.shell.com.my.  ENDS

News: SHELL ADVANCE ORGANISES HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME TO HELP MALAYSIAN ASIA TALENT CUP RIDERS

8:18 AM 1
Start 'em young they say......

PRESS RELEASE
SHELL ADVANCE ORGANISES HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME TO HELP MALAYSIAN ASIA TALENT CUP RIDERS

Kuala Lumpur, June 25, 2015  – As part of a holistic approach to help the young Malaysian riders taking part in the 2015 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup (“SAATC”), Shell Advance recently organised a special 3-day 2-night Rider Development Programme at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort.

The four Malaysian riders who attended were Azroy Anuar, 16, Fakhrusy Syakirin Rostam, 19; Helmi Azman, 16, and Shafiq Rasol, 19.

The idea for the rider development programme was first mooted at a roundtable discussion between Shell Malaysia and Sepang International Circuit back in March 2015.

Shell Lubricants Marketing Manager (Malaysia and Singapore), Alex Lim, said that the programme for the inaugural camp was designed to help mould the young riders into potential champions.

“We have no doubt that our Malaysian riders are blessed with an abundance of natural talent for motorcycle racing.  We hope that by imparting professional guidance; and a scientific, systematic and disciplined approach, they can go even further,” he said.

Alex added, “The second season of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup is more competitive than ever.  Our riders were somewhat off the pace in the first two rounds in Thailand and Qatar.  We hope that this holistic development programme can give them a boost when the season resumes in August. This is purely a Malaysian initiative driven by national pride,” said Alex.

The programme for the 3-day camp was carefully segmented with a different focus every day.

On the first day, the focus was on communications and media handling skills. Coached by Shell Malaysia Operational Excellence Manager, Lingesh Lechmanan, and consultants from Accenture, the four riders learned how to overcome their shyness, project confidence and prepare their answers when meeting with the media.

The second day’s programme at Sepang International Kart Circuit was easily the favourite with the riders.  They cherished every moment of the time they had on the track and demonstrated how at home they were astride a motorcycle.

Certified coaches Haizal Omar and Remon Azrem from Alpha Track Academy (ATAC) observed every rider as they were put through their paces on the track.

“The boys are skilful, enthusiastic and highly determined but need to be more scientific in their approach. They must learn to break down their race into parts, analyse areas for improvement and strategise on how to overcome challenges.  A true champion is one who has planning skills when he is not racing.  He is always taking notes, organising his thoughts, analysing his performance and planning on how to ride better,” they said, while also stressing on the importance of theory sessions to equip the riders with the necessary technical understanding to complement their natural talent.

On the last day, trainers from Rebel Boot Camp were called in to help with the fitness and nutrition aspects.  Each rider was put through a grueling series of physical tests at the resort gym to assess their fitness and strength levels. Their eating habits during mealtimes were also observed.

By the end of the day, the riders were given a structured fitness regime and dietary advice to follow to help improve their strength, especially in core muscles, and endurance.

The SAATC is a competition that promotes the best young talent from world of motorcycle racing, giving them a formal path into competitive road racing. Twenty-two handpicked riders from all over Asia compete over six rounds in Thailand (March 22), Qatar (March 29), Malaysia (August 2), China (September 20), Japan (October 11) and Malaysia (October 25).

The riders race on Honda NSF250R Moto3™ bikes powered by Shell V-Power racing fuel and lubricated with the new Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology fully synthetic motorcycle engine oil.  Shell PurePlus Technology is a revolutionary gas-to-liquid (GTL) process that converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil. GTL base oil delivers higher levels of cleansing and superior wear and corrosion protection.

Shell's #Lovemyride Festival - 500 motorists get engine oil changes at a carnival

4:47 AM 0

A total of 500 lucky motorists enjoyed the ultimate engine rejuvenating experience for their cars at the first-ever “#LoveMyRide” Festival organised by Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd over the weekend. Acording to Shell Malaysia,  a total of 378 cars received a free engine oil change on the first day of the festival, Saturday, June 13, 2015, to successfully create a new entry in the Malaysia Book of Records for the ‘most number of cars in a lubricant changing event. The overall target of 500 cars was achieved at 3.17 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2015, when another 122 cars underwent the free oil change. The two day event was held at MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur.

Shell Malaysia MD Tuan Haji Azman Ismail and Shell Lubricants GM Leslie Ng pour Shell Helix Ultra to symbolically open the Love My Ride Festival

I attended the event, bringing along my wife's trusty Perodua Myvi for the 'rejuvenating experience'. I got the Shell Helix Ultra oil change as well as a filling of Shell's V-Power Racing (about a quarter tank's worth as the car still had lots of petrol in it). This made me a participant in the Malaysia Book of Records. Of course, those who got the oil change was basically there to take advantage of the freebies. But I personally like using Shell Helix engine oil for my cars. Actually anything with the higher or correct grade of engine oil is what I like for my cars - which is why I do end up checking the contents as to whether it has the correct grade or not.

Out of the last six or so engine oil changes in the Subaru Impreza TS I owned, I have to say that around four of it was Shell Helix HX7. This is the semi syntethic grade offered by Shell Malaysia. and it worked perfectly fine for the car. The range of Shell Helix engine oils in Malaysia are the Helix Ultra fully synthetic, Helix HX7 semi-synthetic, HX5 and HX3 mineral based oils. You basically cannot go wrong with an established brand. Just keep with the service schedule required by the car's manufacturer and you're okay.

Yes. The Myvi ran smoothly after the oil change and the V-Power Racing. Speaking about V-Power Racing, it costs RM2.90 per liter at the pumps at the time of writing. A heck of a lot compared to the basic RON 95 that most of us use (RM2.05 per liter). But the thing is that in most smaller capacity cars V-Power Racing actually works quite well as it is much cleaner - Euro 4M rating compared to the mimimum Euro 2 grade that is still being offered, and that its octane rating is a minimum of RON97 (I think it feels closer to a Premium 98 grade used overseas). So the benefits are instantaneous from the first fill. Even a Myvi with some V-Power Racing in its tank feels a tad bit smoother and felt like it had a tad bit more performance too. Too bad it costs a fair bit.

Anyway, do read on down below. More pictures too as the event was not only about engine oil and fuel. The event had lots of food stalls and booths, fashion stalls, Mazda and BMW cars on display and other activities for those who brought their families. It was fun actually. I had hoped that there would be other manufacturers but Mazda and BMW were there are they are in an arrangement with Shell Malaysia and use their lubricants for servicing at the service centers. But a carnival nonetheless.

Press release
‘LESS DOWNTIME, MORE DONE TIME’ WITH SHELL DRIVELINE PRODUCTS

Kuala Lumpur, May 15, 2015 – In conjunction with its participation at the Malaysia International Trucks, Bus and Components Expo (MITBC) 2015, Shell Lubricants has officially launched its suite of driveline products aimed at helping businesses reduce operating costs significantly.

Shell offers a complete range of lubricants that protects all the driveline components in these machines.  They include Shell Rimula heavy duty diesel engine oils; Shell Spirax axle, transmission and gear oils; as well as Shell Gadus greases.

Shell Lubricants General Manager, Malaysia & Singapore, Mr Leslie Ng, reveals that the company is keen to share the benefits that these Shell driveline products are capable of delivering.

“All of our lubricants products are a direct result of Shell’s leadership in research and development, which are designed to offer specific benefits.  When used in conjunction with each other throughout the machine’s driveline, these Shell lubricants are then able to deliver greater value by lowering operating costs and extending service intervals. This is an excellent demonstration of a case of ‘The whole is greater than the sum of its parts’.  But don’t take my word for it – there are tangible and quantifiable results that our business partners have shared with us that prove these combined benefits; these are called Demonstrated Value Records (DVRs),” he said.

Mr Ng further added that Shell Lubricants already has a growing list of satisfied customers in Malaysia across different industries such as agriculture, cement and quarrying, fleet and transportation, construction and general manufacturing, who have seen significant cost savings from longer oil drain intervals, reduced fuel consumption, extended lifespan of parts, lower maintenance and repair costs, reduced downtime and higher operational efficiency by switching to Shell Driveline products.

Sibu-based NB Heavy Industries Sdn Bhd, whose fleet of trucks ply both short and long haul routes in extreme and stressful conditions all over Sarawak, was able to reduce operating costs without comprising the fleet up-time since using Shell Rimula R5 LE 10W-40 synthetic technology heavy duty diesel engine oil.

The company was able to extend its oil drain interval which resulted in increased vehicle availability and fewer overhauls. Its reduced consumption of lubricant and savings in maintenance costs have resulted in a reported annual total savings of nearly RM2.5 million.

Kokorotus Estate Sdn Bhd, a plantation company in Lahad Datu, Sabah, saw almost immediate benefits since switching to Shell Spirax transmission and hydraulic oils. The company was able to extend the oil drain interval for its fleet of tractors from 500 hours to 1,300 hours, which resulted in increased vehicle availability and fewer overhauls. Its reduced consumption of lubricant and savings in maintenance costs have resulted in a reported annual total savings of almost RM100,000.

Taiping, Perak-based Megah Transport Sdn Bhd operated a fleet of trucks that used to be plagued by grease leak issues that led to early wheel bearing failures. Since switching to Shell Gadus grease, the company was able to minimise such occurrences and reduce grease wastage and usage costs. It resulted in annual savings of some RM250,000 in repair and maintenance costs.

“At Shell, we are constantly leveraging on our technological leadership to help truckers as well as heavy equipment owners and operators attain new levels of operational efficiency. It is about less downtime and more ‘done time’. Our Shell Driveline can help you achieve just that,” Mr Ng said.

He then concluded, “Throughout the years, Shell has been able to forge very successful partnerships with our customers because we understand what drive their businesses and their long term goals. In the long run, we strive to make them successful in achieving their goals and work together and help them deliver greater business value.”

To mark the recent global partnership between Shell and BMW, Shell Helix gave away the Grand Lucky Prize of a brand new BMW 320i luxury sedan during the event.

Ms Cheong Chuu Yng, 26, from Perak was the big winner of the night and drove home the BMW.  She received the keys to the new car from Shell Lubricants General Manager, Mr Leslie Ng.

“This is all about rewarding our trade partners for their partnership, dedication and commitment towards our end consumers. These trade partners are extremely important to us as they are the trusted experts in the eyes of consumers. We are delighted that they share the belief that our revolutionary Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology is far superior to any other motor oil the market,” said Mr Ng.

The latest product in the Shell Helix Ultra range is Shell’s most advanced motor oil and the first ever motor oil made from natural gas. It has virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil and delivers higher levels of cleansing and wear protection, hence, no other motor oil cleans your engine better[1].It works hard to protect the engine and deliver great performance even on demanding drives.

Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology has received the seal of approval from some of the world’s most respected car manufacturers including Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes, VW, Ford, Honda, GM, Chrysler, Hyundai and others. This year, Shell has embarked on an engineering partnership with BMW Motorsport. Shell scientists and BMW Engineers will work together to further develop cutting edge motor oil technology for race cars which will ultimately benefit everyday drivers.

Shell’s partnership with BMW this year will result in some interesting opportunities for our Shell trade partners and retailers.   For example in October, eighteen lucky trade partners and retailers would be going for an all expense VIP paid trip to Munich, Germany and a bespoke BMW Driving Experience.

They would have the opportunity to enjoy the famous capital city of Bavaria , its Mediterranean-style street cafes, beer halls, art, high-tech industry and drive a variety of top-of-the-range models under the expert guidance of professional race car drivers. DTOX - The new Express Oil Change Service Centre in the heart of PJ

9:16 AM 0
I recently received an invitation to visit a newly opened car service centre in Petaling Jaya Selangor. The service centre, called DTOX, which stands for Drive Thru Oil change Xpress, is a first-of-a-kind car service centre in Petaling Jaya which offers a 10 minutes no frills drive-through oil change service.

What this means is that you would just drive up into DTOX, choose one of the three service packages they offer (prices starting from RM88.00), either wait in your car or sit in the comfort of the provided waiting area while having a free cup of espressolab coffee and in about 10 or so minutes the oil change will be done. The concept was quite intriguing and I decided to take up their offer and pay them a visit.

This express engine oil change concept is known as the Fast Lube industry in the USA, Canada and also Australia. In USA alone there are more than 2000 service centres with a similar concept. This sort of service centre usually focuses solely on oil change and at the very least offer fluid top-up services like air filter change, battery water, brake fluid top-up, windscreen washer, radiator coolant and nothing more. You have to go elsewhere to get your sparkplugs or any other item changed.

This means that you only pay for what you actually want and you would never get to hear “Boss, your engine got leak. Top overhaul Boss.”. You won't get such comments at these sort of service centres as they only do oil change and would only tell you that something needs to be fixed on your car but not do it themselves.

This is what DTOX is trying to bring to Malaysia with the hope that it will revolutionize the car servicing industry and reduce hassle for customers when all they want is an oil change for their car at a reasonable price.

So upon visiting them I got to see their service centre located in PJ State area (near the PJ State Traffic Police Headquarters). The service centre is very visible and strategically located in the town centre. You cannot miss it.

Anyway, the people at DTOX can work on at least four cars at any one time. If you want to wait inside your car while the oil change is being done, two of the bays have hoses that can channel air-conditioned air into your car while you wait. There is also a waiting room if you wish to stretch your legs a bit.

It doesn't take long as during the service, several mechanics will work simultaneously at different parts the car according to their assigned procedure. Some mechanics are located underneath the floor of the service centre where they have direct access to the bottom of a car. They do not even need to jack up your car to reach the oil drain plug or to remove an oil filter. It is because of this efficiency DTOX says that they can do the oil change within the specified 10 minutes. They also do the other snap-on items like spark plugs, air filter & air condition filter changes, wipers and so on but no overhaul and other major repairs.

Now unlike other normal service centers, customers would have to adjust their own schedule for an oil change service that actually takes only mere minutes instead of hours. DTOX actually allows you to drive in for a service oil change at your own convenience seven days a week without an appointment or without a long wait. No hassles too and no chance of paying more unless your car uses more than 4 liters of oil or is one of those rare brands that have expensive oil filters.

DTOX stocks genuine engine oil of various grades from Castrol, Mobil and Shell. No engine oil from big drums to save cost, but individual packaging. Definitely a good thing. The oil filters that they keep in stock range from your usual Proton, Perodua, Japanese brands all the way to Volvo, BMW and even Porsche. I suppose DTOX wants to cater all those Cayennes plying around town these days.

I believe that a no frills service centre concept should be a success as these days (with rising petrol prices and other costs) motorists don't want to be hit with hidden costs and would also benefit from the short service period. In fact I am personally thinking of sending some of the cars that I maintain here (and those who are aware would know that I have a few cars that are not under manufacturer warranty anymore).

A further note: I asked DTOX Co-Founder Mr Hendrik Tan whether there were other companies offering similar service. He mentioned that some would remember that there was once a service centre called Fast Fix. This differs from DTOX in the fact that they were trying to offer more than just oil changes but repairs with a quick turn around time. But service wasn't as fast as customers wanted which is why you don't see any more Fast Fix centres around these days.
